DMFC Dominates Redblock to Clinch First Playoff Berth

BERKLEY, MICHIGAN (October 27, 2025) — In their first-ever season, Detroit Metro FC has officially clinched a spot in the 2025 Fall UPSL Playoffs after a commanding 4-0 win over Redblock at Hurley Field.

The match, rescheduled from the week prior, kicked off on a frigid fall night — but the cold didn’t slow down DMFC’s red-hot offense. Jake Kunnath led the way with two goals, while Arion Sobers-Assue and Javan each found the back of the net to seal the dominant victory.

Goalkeeper Joe Smith made his return to the lineup and delivered a lights-out performance, recording seven saves and a clean sheet to help secure DMFC’s playoff berth.

The win capped off an impressive turnaround for DMFC, who finished their inaugural UPSL regular season with a 3-3-2 record, collecting 12 points and earning a 3rd place finish in the Midwest East Conference.

It’s been a season of milestones for Detroit Metro FC — from their decisive 5-1 win in their first-ever home match at the Legacy Center in April, to battling through competitive matchups like Drita SC, to now earning a playoff spot in their debut campaign.

Head Coach Alex Lubyansky praised the team’s resilience:

DMFC now turns its focus to the upcoming UPSL playoffs, where they’ll look to continue their historic first-season run and make noise on the postseason stage.
